The Gentle Arts Academy was founded in October 2020 by 5x World Champion Sinistro Iturralde, with the intention to share the jiu jitsu lifestyle and make a positive impact in the community.

The Academy’s vision is to bring world class instruction and technique in a traditional meets modern environment, focusing on jiu jitsu, yoga & meditation.


Professor Sinistro Iturralde
Professor Francisco “Sinistro” Iturralde has been training jiu jitsu since 1999. Since the age of 7, jiu jitsu has been his passion and methodology to do some good and share the benefits of the jiu jitsu lifestyle - emphasizing health and wellness to the world. Prior to opening his flagship location Professor Iturralde trained and fought under Professor Clark Gracie at Gracie Allegiance HQ in San Diego. Gentle Arts Jiu Jitsu is a proud affiliate of Gracie Allegiance and remains active in academy events in San Diego.
